Odisha Government Hikes Dearness Allowance by 2% for Employees and Pensioners

In a significant announcement for state government employees and pensioners, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has declared a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA). Following the footsteps of the Central Government, this increase will benefit a large section of government staff and retirees across the state.

With this revision, the DA for state employees will rise from the existing 53% to 55%. Importantly, the enhanced allowance will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2025. However, the revised amount will be disbursed in cash starting from the April salary.

In addition to employees, state pensioners will also see a corresponding 2% increase in their Dearness Relief (DR). The revised DR will be reflected in their pension from April onwards.

This move is expected to benefit nearly 8.5 lakh individuals, including both serving government employees and pensioners, offering them some financial relief amid rising living costs.

The decision underscores the Odisha Government’s commitment to employee welfare and comes as a welcome gesture in recognition of their ongoing service and contribution.
